Welcome to Tuesday, October 17th. A very special day with the launch of Bridging the Gap, an unprecedented campaign and movement to blur boundaries and put an end to stereotypes. With Influencers from ages 20 to 88, including women with Downs Syndrome to top Sports Illustrated Supermodels, it’s designed to be inclusive as we believe #WeareStrongerTogether. Enjoy this incredible partnering below, two extraordinary women with incredible stories.
From Mindy Schinnerer:
On the surface, we may seem decades apart, but when you stop the world for a few moments of true connection with another woman, our oneness as women reveals itself in ways that touch our hearts and create beautiful bonds. I had the pleasure to be matched with the beautiful and multi-dimensional, uber talented songwriter and singer Courtney Cole for the Bridging the Gap campaign, women supporting women no matter our age. At first glance, the only similarity might have been that we both are female singers. However, throughout our absolutely non-stop conversation, we bonded over similar stories of singing for our neighbors and being on stages since we were 4, years of magical musical theatre productions, being vocal majors in college to years of concert tours traveling throughout the world.
Courtney was the opening act for many famous country artists including Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney. Maybe you’ve even seen her in concert or heard her songs!
We both left our homes to pursue our musical dreams in the big city, Courtney’s in Nashville and mine in Chicago and eventually left everything to begin again and travel west with our moms along for the ride to help us move to LA. We had so much fun connecting, found a kindred spirit and felt bonded in a profound way. We actually had so much in common, at one point she said…”Wait, are we the same person?”
Then the conversation deepened and this is where it really got fun as we shared stories of success, lost love, resiliency, expectations, broken promises, self-doubt, hope for a family, starting over and choices led by intuition that led to divine appointments in unexplainable ways. We realized that we have the same spiritual beliefs and recognize that life is always working for us, even if it might not look that way in the moment. At the beginning of this year, several things in Courtney’s life collided and the life she had built fell apart within weeks. This was the final push she needed to make the long held curiosity of a life in LA become a reality. She even created, recorded and produced her own docu-series of her story of going from brokenness to finding joy called Courtney Cole: The Rockumentary.
There is so much I could write about this beautiful, prolific young woman.. She is a truly talented songwriter and in an era where so much of the music you hear is digitally pieced together, hearing Courtney sing one of her songs live with her guitar is quite a gift. You should really meet her yourself. You can hear Courtney sing a lot of her self-penned music with catchy hooks and beautiful melodies on YouTube or on her website, CourtneyColeMusic.com. I am honored to have met a soul sister so brilliant, tender hearted and humble. She is getting more confirmation every day that coming to LA was the right move, as so many incredible things are already happening for her here. I’m so excited she lives in LA now and I get to see what this next chapter of her life and career holds.
How many times do we really take the time to ask about someone else’s story? When you dig a little deeper to really learn about another woman, you realize that although the path may look different, we all go through the same journeys of highs, tribulations, joy and dark spaces. There is so much we can learn from each other’s unique perspectives and wisdom. We all share a deep desire to know big love, find absolute bliss in our lives and to do what we were born to do. We feel it in our souls. We deserve to use our gifts, help each other, lift each other up and stand so much stronger together.
